Our Vision

Our Vision

Shelter-Shade-Safety-Comfort

Our priority is to provide well-designed, new bus shelters that drastically improve the rider experience.

Reflecting Los Angeles’ Diverse Neighborhoods

We propose an iconic yet timeless design for new bus stops that highlights the ‘City of Neighborhoods’ and LA’s eclectic and optimistic culture.

A Smart Equitable LA

We will partner with LA communities to ensure that bus shelters, street furniture, and technology innovations for smart mobility are accessible and beneficial to all.

Your Bus Stop

Each bus stop and every neighborhood has different needs. Our approach will be to listen to the community and consider three critical elements to determine the best combination of amenities for your stop.

Transit Ridership

75% of bus riders in every district will receive new shelters

Pollution Burden & Community Need

1,304 shelters will be solar powered, reducing carbon emissions

Heat Index

All 3,450 shelters will include shade coverage

The Design

The Design

Our design draws a nod to LA’s vintage while showcasing its vision of a smart-cities future that prioritizes sustainability and equity for all. Inspired by the timeless California Modernism style that our city is known for, the bus shelter acts as a flexible framework to support real-time departures, smart city lights, and additional features to improve the bus rider’s experience.

The Full Bus Stop Catalog

Our bus stops prioritize shade, shelter, safety, and comfort for all locations. They can grow or shrink in size to suit the needs of the location and community preferences.

Other Bus Stop Amenities

Each amenity is thoughtfully selected to provide practical benefits today while ushering in a green and equitable smart cities future.

Art Reach

ArtReach is our initiative to showcase local art at the bus shelters that have digital displays. We will partner with local artists, art galleries, museums, cultural institutions, and community arts organizations in each neighborhood to highlight and promote community and local art. The program will be curated and administered by Nic Cha Kim, co-founder of the creative district Gallery Row in Downtown Los Angeles.

A percentage of ad space will be donated to LA City to promote community events.

See the Prototype

In the heat of July 2021, over the course of two weeks at six different locations throughout the City of LA, we showcased our award winning bus shelter design and amenities to the public and demonstrated its features.

Our Team

Tranzito-Vector LA is a joint venture between Tranzito, an organization dedicated to helping public agencies assert control over public curb space and the creation of equitable transportation for all, and Vector Media, the largest transit advertising company in the US. By combining our expertise and resources, we are perfectly positioned to move LA forward NOW through the creation of thousands of new, state of the art bus shelters.

Tranzito is a new mobility operator that helps cities with micromobility, curbside management, and multimodal infrastructure. Established as BikeHub in 2004, it operates large-scale bike parking, bike share, and mobility hub programs for leading transit agencies in the United States. BikeHub became Tranzito to better address the convergence of all forms of new mobility.
